Legendary singer Tom Jones, also called “The Bull from Wales”, has two sons. But he has never met the youngest – because he reportedly does not want to.

Throughout the years, he has had a very hard time accepting that he has had a child out of wedlock.

“It was not something that was planned. I was tricked. I fell for the seduction,” Tom Jones told the Daily Mail in 2008.

He broke through in 1965 with the smash hit “It’s Not Unusual”, which was then followed by “She’s a Lady”, “Delilah”, “Thunderball” (which was the theme song for the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball) and “Sex Bomb”.

That the singer in question, 84-year-old Tom Jones, was a real sex bomb himself is no secret. He is said to have had several hundred mistresses, but he was actually married to his childhood sweetheart Melinda “Linda” Trenchard (later Woodward ) from 1957 until her death in 2016.

Tom Jones was friends with Elvis Presley in his prime and the women who lined up to see them both used to throw their panties up on stage in the hope of going home with the “Bull of Wales”.

Got pregnant after a few days

One woman who was lucky, or unlucky, to share a bed with Jones was model Katherine Berkery, 61. She became pregnant and later gave birth to the artist’s second son, Jonathan Berkery. Now 35, he has never been able to meet his father.

Tom Jones has never had any interest in getting to know his son. For a long time he refused to admit that he was even his father. It was only when he was forced to take a DNA test that he agreed to pay roughly two thousand dollars a month to Katherine until Jonathan was 18 years old.

Katherine and Tom met and had a brief romance in 1987, when she was just 24 years old. Since then, both she and son Jonathan have had to fight to get Tom’s attention.

The first and only time he ever said anything publicly about his son was in a Daily Mail interview in 2008.

“It was not something that was planned. I was tricked. I fell for the seduction,” he said at the time.

“Not my choice to be born”

These words have of course taken a toll on his son, who has lived large parts of his adult life as a homeless street artist.

“Those words hurt. It was not my choice to be born. I never got a birthday card or Christmas card. I grew up with pictures of my dad everywhere. But my calls and emails have gone unanswered. He wants nothing to do with me,” he has said.

In addition to his “career” as a street musician, Jonathan has worked his way up for several years as a warehouse worker and has been able to sleep at a shelter in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Despite the fact that his father is said to be worth just over 187 million pounds, Jonathan says he does not want a penny. He just wants to see his father, sit down with him and talk.

“Growing up without a father was difficult. All I ever wanted was his love. People think I look and sound like a younger version of my father,” he has said.

That’s how Tom Jones’ son Mark lives

Jonathan still hopes that one day he will be able to meet his father before it is too late. Tom Jones is 84 years old and has been a widower for eight years.

The artist’s eldest son Mark Woodward, 67, was born when his parents were only 17. He has assisted his father as manager since the previous man who held that job, Gordon Mills, died in 1986.

Mark has been instrumental in Tom’s music career and has been widely credited with reviving his father’s career in recent years. They also live close to each other.

Mark and Jonathan have also never had any contact.

This is really sad. The only thing Jonathan ever wanted was to see his father.
