Phil Collins paid ex-wife Orianne Cevey $46m – after the divorce her betrayal continued

Phil Collins is one of the world’s biggest and most successful musicians and artists.

But when it comes to love, the star has been rather unlucky.

His latest divorce turned out to be the most expensive in British history at the time.

Phil Collins, 73, is one of the world’s most legendary musicians. Throughout his long career, he has given us tons of great music.

He is perhaps best known as the drummer and later singer in the band Genesis , but he has also had a solid solo career. The song “In the Air Tonight” is one of his absolute biggest hits.

Stormy love life

Behind the spotlight, Phil Collins has been married and divorced three times.

In 1975 Phil married Andrea Bertorelli , with whom he has a daughter Joely (born 1972) and a son Simon (born 1976). In 1980, however, they chose to go their separate ways.

Four years later, in 1984, Phil Collins instead married Jill Tavelman , with whom he has a daughter Lily Collins (born 1989). During a tour with Genesis in 1992, however, Phil was unfaithful to Jill, in 1994 Phil announced that he had filed for divorce. And it was an expensive divorce for Phil, who had to pay Jill £17 million.

In 1999, Collins married the then 25-year-old Orianne Cevey, a Swiss citizen who had previously worked as an interpreter for Phil during a tour. Together they had children Nicholas and Matthew who are both in their 20s today.

Expensive divorce

Nor would this marriage prove to last. In 2006, they separated and it would turn out to be a historically expensive divorce. Phil Collins, who also did not write any prenuptial agreements this time, had to pay 25 million pounds to Orianne, which today corresponds to approximately $46 million! This made it the most expensive settlement in the UK at the time, even more expensive than Paul McCartney’s highly-publicised divorce from Heather Mills.

But it didn’t end there. In 2016, Phil Collins and Orianne Cevey reunited and lived together in Phil’s luxury villa in Miami. However, the relationship ended again in 2020 after it emerged that Orianne had secretly married Thomas Bates , a male prostitute.

However, Orianne and her new love did not move out of Phil Collins’ house, leading Phil to evict Orianne. In a subsequent row, Orianne accused Phil of many things (including neglecting his personal hygiene) which were later seen as lies.

The drama continued

When Phil later sold his house for $39 million, Orianne wanted some of the money and said she had a verbal agreement with Phil. However, this was written off as a lie in court and Phil got to keep the money.

In 2021, Page Six reported, among others, that Orianne posted one of Phil Collins’ gold records and much more to action.

” She moves to a smaller home and gets rid of some of her clothes and jewelry that she no longer uses… I mean, after all, she has 5,000 pairs of shoes and only two feet – she can’t wear them all! “, a source told the newspaper.

Since then, Orianne and Thomas have separated, it is unclear what the relationship with Phil looks like today. But on her Instagram, she has, among other things, congratulated Phil on his birthday and recently she also congratulated him on Father’s Day.
