The internet is buzzing after Kelly Ripa’s handsome husband Mark Consuelos shaved off his wavy brown locks.

Fans were shocked when Ripa shared a photo on social media where she’s seen lunching in Switzerland with a newly buzzed Conseulos, who jokes his head is now “like a chinchilla.”

In 2022, Kelly Ripa shared with her former co-host of Live with Kelly and Ryan, that her husband, Mark Consuelos, buzzed off his long wavy tresses for the summer.

“Mark shaved his head the other day, and now he’s cold all the time,” she tells Ryan Seacrest on an episode of the talk show.

Responding, Seacrest suggested the sexy Spaniard’s new do wasn’t that dramatic, and that he “didn’t have that much hair to begin with…I’ve never run my fingers through it.”

Defending her husband who she met in 1980 on the set of All My Children, Ripa insisted, “No, he always has a lot of hair. His hair’s pretty thick. It’s silky but it’s thick…it’s got a sheen to it.”

“You should run your fingers through it,” she adds

‘Like a chinchilla’

“I do this every couple of years,” Consuelos admitted on the July 1 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Appearing on the show with a new military-buzzed head, the 53-year-old Riverdale alum told his audiences, “Do not adjust your TV screens, yes, I got my haircut. It’s like a chinchilla!”

Getting handsy with his head, his wife and co-host, 53, adds, “I’ve never rubbed an actual chinchilla, but I suspect this is what it feels like…Look at how I take it all for granted, don’t I? I take it all for granted!”

Consuelos shares he flirted with shaving his shag a few weeks before, but Ripa encouraged him to keep it longer.

This time, Ripa says that Consuelos “Didn’t have a choice” and “had to do it.”

“Yeah, I got a TV job. A role in a pilot,” said the man, who refused to further elaborate on his upcoming series. “…And they said, ‘Can you cut it short?’ And I said, ‘How short?…Military?’ And they said, ‘Military.’”

‘Where’s that beautiful hair?’

Consuelos big reveal on TV came two days after Ripa shared a photo of the couple vacationing in Switzerland with 23-year-old Lola Consuelos, baby sister to Michael, 27 and big sis to Joaquin, 21.

“We are Switzerland baby!” she captions the image that shows the adorable couple sitting by a window that overlooks the Alps.

But it wasn’t the stunning scenery that captured the attention of surprised fans.

It was Consuelos, who’s seen with a close-cropped haircut that highlights his chiseled cheekbones.

“Buzz cut?!! NO!!!!!!’ cries one fan of the stunning long locks that were missing from the man’s head. “Have fun be safe. I don’t like your hair cut [sic],” shares a second.

A third netizen asks, “What’s with the shaved head? Where’s that beautiful hair? Did he sell it?”

Representing a collective of disappointed fans, another offers, “What happened to [Mark’s] beautiful hair?”

But not everyone objected to his barely-there hair.

“I love the haircut! I think it’s sexy,” gushes one fan. A second writes, “Gorgeous couple! Mark, love your haircut! Kelly, always gorgeous!!”

Meanwhile, others commented on the couple’s effortless beauty and endearing love.
