The Bottomless Hole
Two men were walking across a field when they came across a massive hole in the ground—so deep that they couldn’t see the bottom.
“I wonder how deep it is,” one of them said.
The other pulled a coin from his pocket and tossed it in. They waited and listened… 30 seconds passed—not a sound.
“Wow!” they exclaimed.
“Let’s try something bigger,” said one of them.
They spotted a large rock nearby, rolled it over with effort, and pushed it into the hole. Again, they listened—nothing.
“This hole must be unbelievably deep!” said one man.
“Let’s try that big log over there,” said the other.
After a struggle, they hauled the huge log to the edge and rolled it in.
Just then, out of nowhere, a goat ran up and leaped straight into the hole!
They stared at each other in shock as a farmer approached on his tractor.
“Hey, you boys seen my goat?” the farmer asked.
“Yeah!” they replied. “One just ran by and jumped into this hole!”
The farmer frowned. “No, that couldn’t be my goat,” he said slowly.
“My goat was chained to a big log.”
