My home rests in a quiet suburb, tucked along a tree-lined street where every lawn is perfectly trimmed and every front door wears a seasonal wreath. I moved here after the plane crash that took my wife and only son. Since then, I’ve avoided connection. Loving and losing once was enough—it left me guarded. I didn’t want to know anyone’s name, nor did I want them to know mine.
