Neglected camel kills owner after hours tied in scorching heat

Camel Kills Owner in India After Being Left in Extreme Heat

In 2016, a tragic incident occurred in Barmer, India, when a camel reportedly killed its owner, Urjaram. The camel had been tied up for hours in scorching heat—over 109°F—without water or shade. Distressed and agitated, the animal eventually snapped.

When Urjaram came to untie the camel, it attacked violently. Eyewitnesses said the camel grabbed him by the neck, threw him to the ground, and bit him repeatedly, even severing his head. The rampage continued for hours until 25 villagers managed to restrain the furious animal.

Locals revealed there was a history of tension between the camel and its owner, possibly fueling the violent response. While camels are often seen as gentle and loyal animals adapted to harsh desert climates, experts warn that they can become dangerous when mistreated or pushed beyond their limits.

Camels weigh up to 2,200 pounds and have powerful jaws and strong kicks that can cause serious injury. Similar attacks have been reported worldwide, including fatal incidents in Siberia, Mexico, and the U.S., often triggered by mistreatment or provocation.

This tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting animals and ensuring their welfare. Even docile creatures have limits and can react unpredictably when abused or neglected.
