Brinkley had been invited to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party, celebrating the publication’s 60th anniversary edition, when she turned heads in a daring $225 gown that featured a thigh-high slit and extra-long, dramatic sleeves that gracefully swept the floor.
As she posed for the cameras, the billowing fabric caught the wind, allowing her to pose up a storm.
For Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s anniversary issue, Brinkley appears on one of the group covers, sporting a shiny, metallic dress alongside other icons like Martha Stewart, Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, and Kate Upton.
Brinkley took to Instagram to share the shot as well as the two other group covers, adding that she was grateful to the magazine – having appeared on the cover a whopping eight times since her debut in 1975 aged just 21.
“I am grateful beyond measure for my many happy adventures with @si_swimsuit,” she wrote in the caption, writing how “lucky” she felt to get to know some of the women pictured.
Fans were quick to shower the ageless beauty with compliments for her stunning red number, praising her radiant and glowing look. “Stunning as always,” one admirer noted, while another added: “I’ve got to give it to her, she looks awesome in this dress!”
Though, the gown’s bold design was not met with universal approval. Some critics felt it was too daring for someone of her age. One person commented: “She is dressed inappropriately for her age. No need to have a slit up to there! She is a grandma…”
