Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth referred to U.S. military bases by their former names, Fort Bragg and Fort Benning, while implementing President Trump’s orders to remove DEI programs from the Pentagon. These bases were renamed Fort Liberty and Fort Moore in 2021 to remove Confederate ties.
Hegseth confirmed that more executive orders eliminating “wokeness” from the military would be enforced soon.
Additionally, Trump issued executive orders reversing Biden’s climate policies, declaring an “energy emergency” to boost fossil fuel production and streamline energy infrastructure. He withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Agreement and lifted restrictions on offshore drilling.
Jeff Reynolds from Restoration News suggested Trump’s aggressive energy stance stems from lessons learned during his first term, signaling a renewed focus on pro-fossil fuel policies.
